Friend in Need: Make a Difference as a Compaid Volunteer
Do you know how to drive? Do you know how to use a computer? Then you could be the perfect Compaid volunteer!
This spring, we are launching our “Friend in Need” campaign, which is all about how simple acts of kindness is all it takes to make a difference in someone’s life, and how volunteering lets you do just that. By giving your time and using the skills you have, and will learn, to help others, you become a friend to someone who needs and that connection is what truly change someone’s life.
For people facing isolation, loneliness, or challenges due to disability, age, or circumstance, your help can be life-changing. Just by offering your time and care, you can boost someone’s confidence, inspire them, and help improve their overall well-being.
We invite you to join us and make a meaningful impact in someone’s life today!
What Does Volunteering with Compaid Entail?
We have two main types of volunteering opportunities that you can take part in:
Volunteer Digital Skills Trainer
Many resources and support such as healthcare information, social services like Universal Credit and benefits programs, and job vacancy information are being moved entirely online. Using technology is crucial for these and many everyday tasks, but for some people, it can be overwhelming to navigate.
As a Digital Skills Volunteer, you will help people who may be unfamiliar with smartphones, computers, or the internet to gain confidence using them and become more independent.
This role involves supporting someone with basic tasks, such as finding online health information, teaching them how to use social media safely, or helping them with online shopping or banking. You may also help them find and complete personal projects such as making digital art, programming lessons, educational courses, or research family history.
You don’t need to be an expert in technology to volunteer in this role. The most important thing is having compassion, patience, and the ability to explain things clearly. Through your support, you’ll help someone navigate the digital world and discover new opportunities, from accessing essential health services to connecting with loved ones online.

Volunteer Driver
As a Transport Volunteer, you will drive or support a driver on our specially adapted minibuses and vehicles, making everyday life easier for isolated and vulnerable people, and helping them maintain their independence. By supporting our drivers to pick up passengers from their home, help them with their shopping and ensure they get to their destination on time and safely, you will make their everyday life less stressful.
The main requirement for this role is simply to have a full clean driver’s license held for at least 2 years, so this is a perfect opportunity if you enjoy driving and would like to help others in a very practical, meaningful way.
