Volunteer Digital Skills Trainer

Role Description

Join our Digital Skills Trainer team and help disabled, older, and vulnerable people to
discover a ranger of possibilities by learning to use the internet and digital devices such as
smartphones, tablets, laptops, and computers. Through informal, 1-to-1 training, you
will support people to gain confidence and maximise their social, creative and learning
potential.

Location of Role: Compaid Trust, Unit 1 Eastlands, Maidstone Road, Paddock Wood,
Kent, TN12 6BU

Tasks & Activites

  • Support disabled, older, and vulnerable people to access and use smartphones,
    tablets, laptops, and computers.
  • Support clients to learn how to use the internet safely and confidently
  • Support clients to grow in independence and confidence through social interaction with
    other clients, volunteers and staff, and through personalised 1-to-1 learning sessions.
  • Support clients to improve their general computer skills, as well as the use of specific
    applications and software, i.e. Microsoft Office.

Time

The minimum commitment required is one 2 and a half hour session per week, on a set
day and time each week, Monday – Friday.
NB: There may be some flexibility depending on individual circumstances.

Skills Required

  • Excellent team working with other trainers
  • Excellent communication skills, patience and friendliness for working with client
  • To know how to navigate and use computers at a basic level
  • Willingness and adaptability when working with disabled and older people
  • Willingness to learn about a range of disabilities
  • Willingness to learn new computer programmes as required, such as Coral Draw

Additional Requirements

Two references needed.

This role will require an enhanced Disclosure & Barring Services check, provided
by Compaid.
