Volunteer Driver

Role Description

Join our Transport Team and drive specially-adapted, wheelchair-accessible minibuses
and vehicles, providing assistance when required and enabling our passengers and
clients to remain independent.

Line Manager: John Carrick, Transport Manager

Location for role: Paddock Wood, Kent, TN12 6BU

Task & Activities

• to drive Compaid minibuses and vehicles as required, transporting disabled and older
  persons to and from stated destinations with responsible care of the passenger. This
  may include manoeuvring and loading manual and electric wheelchairs.
• to complete daily checks of the minibus or vehicle
• to complete a daily log of journey and mileage
• to clean and carry out minor maintenance to vehicle as required, with the Line
  Manager’s approval

Time

The minimum commitment required is one half day per week, from either 8am – 12 midday
or 1pm – 5pm, Monday – Friday.

Requirements

• A clean D1 driving license from 1997 onwards
• A minimum of 5 years driving experience
• Be between 21 and 70 years old (for insurance purposes)
• Good knowledge of road safety and the Highway Code
• Confident and adaptable when supporting disabled and older people, and challenging
  situations
• Willingness to learn about a range of disabilities
