Client Moments: Harry uses AI to Learn & Thrive

Confidence in Creativity

A few weeks ago, our digital skills trainer Norman met Harry and his mum at our community
hub in St Stephen’s Church, Tonbridge. It was clear straight away that Harry had something special.

Harry is neurodivergent, which can make it harder for him to remember information, make
decisions, and feel confident in himself. But with the constant support and encouragement
of his mum, he’s been taking steps to build the skills he needs to live more independently.

Norman saw Harry’s potential right away. He’s bright, curious, and full of passion for the
things that interest him; he just needed the confidence and encouragement to bring it out.

Over the following weeks, they began working together on a project that was not only engaging,
but a fun and meaningful way for Harry to learn new skills.

The Process of Progress

Harry dreams of becoming a tour guide, inspired by a memorable Jane Austen walking
tour in London that he experienced with his mum. Wanting to help him take a step towards
that goal, his trainer Norman suggested a creative idea: why not record his own audio
guide on a topic he enjoys?

Harry was keen to give it a go and chose to talk about sun bears.

Over the following weeks, Harry and Norman worked together to bring his idea to life. Using an
AI tool to help organise their thoughts, Harry shaped the direction of the project, choosing
what to include, deciding which versions of the script worked best, and bringing new ideas to
each session at St Stephen’s Church. With every step, his confidence grew, and before long, his
script was complete.

With Norman’s laptop and a headset, Harry began recording his audio guide, taking it one section
at a time. Finally, after Norman carefully edited everything together, Harry’s very own podcast on
sun bears was complete, a brilliant achievement and a big step towards his dream.

The Wonder of Accomplishment

When Harry and his mum listened back to the finished recording, it was a proud moment for them
both. Hearing his ideas come together into something Harry had created himself was a real achievement,
and a reminder of just how far he had come and all the potential he had.

Through this project, Harry built confidence in his own abilities, developed his decision-making skills,
and learned how to organise his thoughts in a way that worked for him. By using tools like AI to support
his process, he also discovered new ways to make learning and creating feel more manageable.

It’s a step forward that goes beyond one project, giving Harry the confidence to keep exploring his
interests, developing new skills, and take on a new challenge of recording a video tour next.
