The Butterfly Effect Project: Growing Together
At Compaid, we believe that growth comes not just from within, but from the voices of
everyone who makes our organisation what it is. That’s why we launched The Butterfly
Effect Project an initiative grounded in the idea that small actions can lead to big,
meaningful change.
By inviting feedback from staff, volunteers, passengers, and digital skills learners, we’re
taking real steps toward becoming a better, more inclusive organisation for all.
What is The Butterfly Effect Project?
Over the course of two weeks in June, The Butterfly Effect Project gave everyone involved
with Compaid the chance to reflect and share their thoughts on one question:
“What is one thing that you think Compaid could start doing or do differently to make things better?”
From this question, we received 32 unique suggestions, each one offering a fresh insight into how
we can improve, grow, and serve more effectively.
Our CEO, Michelle, launched the initiative by encouraging everyone to participate, saying:
“This project is built on a simple but powerful idea: small actions can create big change.
When we listen to one another and work together, we not only strengthen our organisation,
we create meaningful, lasting impact for the communities we serve.”
How We Collected Ideas
Starting mid-June, both electronic and paper forms were made available to all staff, volunteers,
and service users. These forms served as an open invitation to share ideas freely, in a way that
was convenient and accessible.
Michelle also dedicated time each week to personally meet with participants reinforcing our
commitment to listening and connection. She shared:
“Creating an environment where everyone feels seen and valued starts with getting to know
the people who make it all happen.”
The response? Overwhelmingly positive. One team member described the initiative as
“a fab idea!” while a digital skills client added, “I hope this helps to make something everyone
can enjoy!”
What We Learned
Every idea we received was different ranging from:
- New training topics for staff
- Enhancements to our centre’s facilities (inside and out)
- Fresh ways to connect with local communities
- Innovative ideas for expanding our reach and services
These insights gave us a deeper understanding of how people experience Compaid and how
we can do better together.
What’s Next?
The Butterfly Effect Project was only the beginning. Now, we move forward to act on the ideas shared.
Over the coming months, we’ll be implementing as many of the suggestions as possible guided
by our continued commitment to improvement and inclusion.
We want to thank everyone who took part and shared their voice. Your input helps shape the future
of Compaid.
Together, we’re building a community where everyone can thrive.
