We are so excited to be represented in the incredible 2026 TCS London Marathon on Sunday 26th April!
The world-renowned London Marathon is one of the Abbott World Marathon Majors, and conquering the 26.2 mile course is an achievement that over 55,000 people chase after every single year. This spring, seasoned marathoners and new runners of all ages will run from Greenwich and Blackheath Park, round Woolwich Dockyard and the Isle of Dogs, and finish at Westminster to achieve their personal goals and take home the well-deserved medal at the end!
Every year, the London Marathon becomes a joyous stream of smiles and multicoloured bibs as thousands of people race in support charities and great causes they believe in. This year, we are delighted to have a dedicated runner to represent and raise money for our charity too.
Meet our charity runner: Taylor Cherry
Taylor is a hospice nurse living in the United States and an experienced runner with a long-held dream of running the London Marathon. For many years, she worked toward this goal, but like so many international runners, strict qualifying standards and the significant cost of overseas travel meant the timing was never quite right.
Despite her dedication, this iconic race remained just out of reach.
After years of trying, Compaid was fortunate to secure a charity place in the London Marathon. It’s a rare opportunity, and one we saw as a meaningful way to raise vital funds while sharing Compaid’s story in a new and inspiring way. With this opportunity, we offered Taylor the chance to finally fulfil her dream of running the London Marathon, while proudly supporting Compaid along the way.
Rather than trying to explain what this opportunity means to her, we’ll let Taylor speak for herself:
Hi! My name is Taylor Cherry, and this April I’ve been given the INCREDIBLE opportunity to run the London Marathon in support of Compaid.
If you’d told 14-year-old me this would be part of my story, I would have laughed. Back then, I could barely finish a mile. I was constantly exhausted, eventually hospitalised with iron deficiency anaemia, and running felt impossible. But after recovering, I stepped onto a dusty treadmill in our basement and ran one mile nonstop. That small, shaky victory changed everything. One mile turned into laps around the neighbourhood, which turned into a cross country race, and eventually into a lifelong relationship with running. Over the years, running has carried me through high school and college, more than 10 marathons, ultra races, injuries, healing, and growth. More importantly, it’s carried me through life.
Running has given me peace during years as an emergency nurse, space to process grief, and now time to reflect and reset as a hospice nurse. It’s given me sunrise miles, deep conversations with friends, confidence in my ability to endure hard things, and moments of calm when everything else felt heavy. It has been a constant when so little else was.
Now, I get to use this love of running for something bigger than myself. Every mile I train and race for London will be in service of Compaid and the individuals and families who benefit from its support. Knowing that this run has purpose beyond the finish line is what will carry me through the toughest miles.
If you’re willing and able to sponsor or donate, please know that YOU will be the reason I keep moving forward when the race, and the training gets hard. Your support means more than I can put into words, and I’m deeply grateful for any contribution toward this amazing cause.
Thank you for believing in me, in Compaid, and in what can happen when small beginnings turn into something meaningful.
