Reducing Isolation through Accessible Travel
For many of the people we support, accessible transport is more than simply getting from one place to another. It provides a vital connection to healthcare, social opportunities, support networks, and everyday independence.
Our fully wheelchair-accessible fleet and friendly, experienced team ensure our passengers can travel safely and with dignity to where they need to go.
Below, you will discover the transport services we provide across Kent, their costs, and how you can use them:
Local Links
Our new ‘Local Links’ transport is a door-to-door, dial-a-ride service only available in Tonbridge & Tunbridge Wells, helping people travel wherever they need to go within their borough.
Journeys within these areas are £8 for the first mile, and £2 for every mile after.
Our vehicles can carry up to four passengers, including space for one wheelchair or mobility scooter user.
You can travel to any destination within Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells, whether it’s a shopping trip, social visit, or appointment.
Bookings can be made up to 7 days in advance, and even earlier for hospital visits. It’s an affordable, flexible service designed around your needs.
Compaid’s transport has allowed me to leave my house for the first time in over 2 years. I use a wheelchair so without this support, I would still be stuck inside, but my driver is a lovely person and is always willing to help me. I love talking to them on my trips into town. Booking the Local Links bus has changed my life.
Kent Karrier
The Kent Karrier is a wheelchair-accessible transport service that we deliver on behalf of Kent County Council, helping older and disabled people get out and about with confidence.
Kent residents who have a Kent Karrier Membership can enjoy door-to-door journeys to local town centres and supermarkets, making everyday tasks like shopping, collecting prescriptions, and banking easier, while also providing opportunities to stay connected with friends and the community.
Membership can be applied for by calling KCC on 03000 413567, by post by sending a letter to Kent Karrier Membership, Public Transport, PO Box 441, Aylesford, Kent, ME6 9HJ, or by clicking the button below.
I would not be able to go out without the Kent Karrier. I have no husband, no family, and I am not able to walk far by myself. It is my lifeline. Now, with the shoppers’ bus, I can get out of the house and meet people every week. Everyone is friendly, and the drivers are also very helpful. I feel less alone now.
