Activities Centre
The Activities Centre, which mainly provides computer based activities and support, is open to individuals who have physical and/or cognitive difficulties as the result of acquired or developmental disability.
Potential clients are usually referred to us via Social Services or other funding organisations, but self-referrals are also very welcome.
The atmosphere in the centre is positive and extremely sociable; the dedicated staff and volunteers motivate and encourage client rehabilitation, helping them to build their confidence and morale.
A variety of learning and creative opportunities are available:
- Assistance to improve/develop literacy or numeracy skills;
- Word, Excel & Powerpoint;
- Creative computer based artwork and graphics;
- Cognitively stimulating and recreational computer software;
- Computer games and stimulation;
- Non-computer activities including making greeting cards, candles and jewellery.
Clients who develop their office skills are offered opportunities, if they wish, to assist Compaid, members of the public and other voluntary organisations a variety of printing and business services. Such work experience enhances the individual’s self esteem but also helps raise valuable funds for the Trust.
Our Assessment and Development service is also available to advise and assist clients as required.
