Betty became Chief Executive following the death of Compaid's founder Lorna Ridgway, and in her fourteen years at the charity's helm did much to develop new services for disabled people, and to begin the search for a permanent home for the charity. Betty retired to the South Coast in 2009.
Stephen Elsden, Chief Executive, said: "Staff, volunteers and clients are all thrilled with Betty's award, which is a long overdue recognition of the great efforts she made to professionalise Compaid's work, and forge strong links with commissioners of adult social services and key donors."
